Big Image Australia, the Adelaide trade-only wide-format printer, has marked its recovery from the fire that destroyed its Hindmarsh factory on December 26, 2020. Wide Format Image reported on October 27, 2026 that more than 100 people from the sign and print industry attended an evening at the company’s Green Fields premises the previous Thursday.
From one fire to two buildings
The fire gutted the Hindmarsh building, which the business had occupied for only 18 months, along with its HP Latex and Fujifilm printers and a Gerber cutting table. At the time it had about 10 staff. Finding a site at Green Fields and building a new factory took nine months.
The new 1,500 square meter building was outgrown within three years. Big Image has since added an 1,100 square meter warehouse and now employs 25 people, according to the report.
What it now produces
Owner Deon Capogreco said the business had used the rebuild to expand rather than simply replace what was lost. It now runs dye-sublimation fabric printing for media walls and two digital cutting machines, and has automated online ordering and file preparation. Newer lines include display stands made from recycled honeycomb board, gazebos, umbrellas, outdoor flags and extrusion-based structures. The company sells only to the trade and describes itself as an off-site print department for sign and display businesses.
Big Image is listed on our Big Image Australia profile. Other wholesale producers are on the trade printers page, and textile specialists under fabric printing.
